Official Report / Commentary

Catalans Dragons kept alive their hopes of an automatic place in Betfred Super League next season with a 26-12 victory over Featherstone Rovers.

Hull Kingston Rovers secured their Super League status for 2018 with victory over Widnes Vikings, meaning at least one team will drop out this season.

Catalans started the Qualifiers slowly but have now registered back-to-back wins for the first time since April, following their win over Halifax last weekend.

The hosts opened the scoring in the sixth minute, Krisnan Inu taking Richie Myler's flat pass to reach out and touch down as Luke Walsh added the conversion.

There were further home tries from Ben Garcia, Brayden Wiliame, and Sam Moa as Walsh kicked over a further goal and Inu added three.

Featherstone replied with first-half efforts from Samuel Brooks and Anthony Thackeray - both converted by Kryan Johnson - but the visitors failed to add anything in the second half.

Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara said:  "To be honest I thought our tackling was really poor in the first half and we gave lots of penalties away around the ruck, which made it a very stop-start game for us."

He added: "But overall I'm pleased we got the win and we can look forward to next week now."

Featherstone boss John Duffy said: "We came here with a young team and some guys who hadn't played for a long time and I thought they were outstanding.

"We could have been a bit smarter in certain areas, but overall I'm very proud of them."
