Luke Gale has earmarked Castleford Tigers’ Betfred Super League fixture against Catalans Dragons on September 1stas his return date from injury.
Following the best season of his career, where he scooped the prestigious Steve Prescott Man of Steel Award, the half-back has been ruled out after cracking his kneecap during the Tigers’ fixture against Wakefield Trinity at the end of April.
And now the 30-year-old has his eyes on the Catalans fixture in just over two-weeks’ time, as the date for his long-awaited return to action at the Mend-a-Hose Jungle.
Daryl Powell’s side then face Hull FC, Huddersfield Giants and Wakefield Trinity at the end of the Super8s campaign, as they seek to reach the Grand Final for the second time in as many years.
He told Sky Sports: “I’m hoping to be back for the Catalans game.
“It’s been a long and drawn-out process, probably a couple of weeks later than we had hoped for but it’s slowly getting there and I’m getting to join in with the boys now and get back amongst it.
“It has been massively disappointing to be sat on the sidelines, especially with the season we had at Castleford last year and just missing out at the Grand Final last year, you want to go that one step better.
“Obviously sat on the sidelines, I haven’t been able to help the boys but I’ve got the chance to make up for lost time over these next few games.”
