For a team who entered the competition with just one Rugby League training session behind them, the progress of this Wade Deacon team has been remarkable.
Coach Lisa Robertson said: "We train in rugby union all year and only decided to enter the Rugby League competition about two weeks before it started. They went into it with just one training session for league.
"Their basic rugby skills, like ball handling and tackling ability, is very, very good. They're still getting to know Rugby League but they've just done exceptionally well.
"Winning the North West title was a huge shock because at the start of the year, our aspiration was just to play loads of rugby.
"Then when we turned up at the Nationals, having won the North West final, we started to see our potential.
"We beat Castleford Academy in the first game of the Festival and then I thought that we had a real chance."
Lisa says there's just a natural physicality about the team, with their strength probably in attack.
Players to watch out for include forward Beth Quinn, one of the most athletic and committed players in the squad.
Ella Mercer is described as 'fearless' - "She would run through a brick wall without knowing that she's done it, and is ruthless in her tackling," said Lisa.
"It's been a fun year with them, they’ve been brilliant.
"The parents' support at the Festival was absolutely brilliant and more for just allowing the girls to play rugby, giving them the opportunity and the chance to do it."
