This last weekend, Masters Rugby League was played by teams from Southampton to Hull, Medway to Whitehaven with several stops between!
A very busy weekend started on Friday evening as Eastmoor hosted Methley and saw the South Area Festival, with London Silverbacks hosting Southampton and Medway, the George Hunton Memorial mini-fest in the Lakes with Leeds, Leyland, W. Cumbria, Barrow, Hindpool and Crosfields taking part and games taking place at Huddersfield (hosting Ossett), Rylands (hosting 2018 France tour Masters), Hull (hosting Heworth) and finally York Lokos hosting York Acorn for the latter's first-ever game of Masters.
Commenting after the York Lokos and York Acorn game, senior referee, Martin Flynn said: "It was a very good game played in good spirit.
"There were also a few Acorn lads on the touchline watching who should hopefully be playing for their next game."
That's 19 teams of lads aged 35 to 75 running around enjoying the fun of playing Masters Rugby League on one glorious weekend! There is a Masters game somewhere every weekend during the summer and autumn. The Yorkshire Festival (July 14 at Stanningley) and the NW Festival ( Aug 4th at Crosfields) are the next big events coming up. Everyone is welcome! From novice to superstar, the modified laws of Masters ensure you can have a great time playing the Greatest Game!
