Lee and Walne become latest Hull KR recruits

Hull KR have continued to strengthen their squad ahead of a return to Betfred Super League next season with the signings of Tommy Lee and Jordan Walne.

Hull-born Lee, who can operate at hooker, half-back or loose forward, has left St Helens to sign a two-year contract at KCOM Craven Park while prop Walne has joined Rovers on a one-year deal following his departure from Salford Red Devils last month.

Both players previously worked with Rovers head coach Tim Sheens when the Australian was director of rugby at Salford.

Sheens told the club's official website: "Tommy is a highly professional player who is liked and well-respected by his team-mates.

"He was named as captain by the players and staff over there before his move to St Helens and he offers us great depth and plenty of Super League experience.

"He's a local lad as well which is an added bonus and he'll really enhance the squad for us heading into next season.

"Jordan plays all of the forward positions except hooker to a high standard. He's comfortable playing front row, on the edge or as part of that middle unit which gives us plenty of versatility.

"He's played over 50 first-grade games already so he's got a fair bit of Super League experience, but he's probably been a bit unlucky with injuries over the last couple of years which have stopped him playing even more regularly.

"Jordan is looking for a fresh start with us and we're happy to have him on board. He's a strong acquisition for the club, he's a very good defender in particular and he understands the game very well."
